Order or Download ONEING: A Living Tradition

We’ve just released our most recent publication, ONEING: A Living Tradition. In times of uncertainty, contemplative traditions invite us deeper into Christian spirituality.

Explore the living path through essays and poetry. Contributors — such as Fr. Richard Rohr, Mirabai Starr, Adam Bucko, and more — draw from the wisdom of the desert tradition and monastic renewal.

Established in 2013, ONEING is the annual journal of the Center for Action and Contemplation. Renowned for its diverse and deep exploration of mysticism and culture, ONEING is grounded in Fr. Richard Rohr’s teachings and wisdom lineage. Each issue features a themed collection of thoughtfully curated essays and critical perspectives from spiritual teachers, activists, modern mystics, and prophets of all religions.

Author Christine Valters Paintner recently sat down with the CAC team to discuss themes from her new book Give Me a Word.

How can we receive a “word?” Christine discusses practical tactics like contemplative listening, dreamwork, and embodiment. She also invites you to embrace nature and sacred thresholds to tune into the voice of God. Watch to discover more on this unique contemplative practice and learn more about our 2025 Daily Meditations theme of Being Salt and Light.

Turn to Brother Lawrence on the Turning to the Mystics Podcast

James Finley’s podcast Turning to the Mystics is back — in this 12th Season, we turn to Brother Lawrence. Check out the first episode!

On each weekly episode, we’ll discover how Brother Lawrence’s wisdom can be integrated into our rhythms of prayer, work, and stillness. We’ll explore his book Practice of the Presence, which was translated by CAC Faculty Carmen Acevedo Butcher.

New Video — Carlos Rodríguez on Nourishing Our Communities

Discover practical ways to embody our Daily Meditations theme of Being Salt and Light with this video, featuring Carlos Rodríguez.

In this video, Carlos shares how his nonprofit The Happy Givers invests in nurturing vulnerable communities across Puerto Rico — including bringing meals to the elderly. Carlos explains that “there’s nothing like just being present with the ones who need presence.” We hope you’ll be moved by this powerful story about an elderly man named Don Hector, whom Carlos had the privilege of caring for in his most vulnerable final days.
