Support Transformation and Inspire Loving Action

The work of the Center for Action and Contemplation is only possible because of the generosity of friends and supporters like you!

Transforming Ourselves, Each Other, and the World

The Center for Action and Contemplation (CAC) is a 501c3 educational nonprofit introducing seekers to the Christian contemplative path of transformation. Our programs are designed to help deepen prayer practice and strengthen compassionate engagement in the world.

Your financial support of our mission helps make the contemplative path more accessible — introducing more people to the wisdom and practices of the Christian contemplative tradition, many for the very first time.

We thank you for your trust and partnership.

Donations to CAC are tax-deductible in the United States. The CAC Federal EIN number is 85-0354965.

Join the Bonaventure Circle of Support

The Bonaventure Circle of Support is the CAC’s community of monthly givers making Christian contemplative wisdom more accessible to a new generation of spiritual seekers.

With your ongoing support, more people will experience the transformative power of the contemplative path and discover their belovedness in God.

Poetry for When the World Burns

Poetry saved my life. I’ve heard many poets, including myself, utter some version of this sentiment over the years. Usually, this response is given after an interviewer asks a question like, “What is saving your life right now?” or “What is sustaining you these days?” The fact that questions such as these have become par for the course is, I believe, telling us something about the times we are living in.

Can Money Serve Our Transition from Ego to Soul?

Like so many Boomers and Xers, I hold onto “my” money to protect my ego. My internal not-enoughness is my resistance. It’s easy to say that an ego wants more money, rank, privilege, wealth, and status. For me, these are simply strategies to fulfill a deeper need: to feel OK, to feel safe. To be an ego is to live with a deep insecurity.

Radical Grace: Honoring Vanessa Guerin’s 20 years of Service to CAC

I can’t believe that it’s been twenty years since I was invited to join the small CAC staff. There were twelve of us then, accomplishing a large amount of work with the support of work interns and volunteers. Today, there are almost fifty gifted and carefully vetted staff members.
