Carmen Acevedo Butcher

Carmen Acevedo Butcher, Ph.D., is an award-winning translator, author, educator, and poet. She teaches in the College Writing Programs at UC Berkeley and is our newest core faculty member at the Center for Action and Contemplation. Her translations of Christian mystical classics, such as “The Cloud of Unknowing” and “Practice of the Presence,” have been praised for their accessibility and depth.
