CAC Honors March Holy Days and Holidays | Women’s History Month, Lent, International Women’s Day, and Purim

This month the Center for Action and Contemplation (CAC)’s online contemplative community honors the holidays that invite us to step into a sense of stillness, celebration, and action.

Women’s History Month: Witness the Divine Feminine

How do you welcome the Divine Feminine into your life? This Women’s History Month, we invite you to reflect on the profound spirit of the Divine Feminine — and its absence — in many spiritual teachings.

Mirabai Starr offers these poetic words : “You feel Her closest when you are shattered and when you are exalted. She scoops you into Her arms, promising that no matter how disastrous the disaster, She will always be with you.”

Lent Begins: Embrace a Season of Silence and Sparsity

On March 5, we begin celebrating Lent — 40 days to reflect on things that can emerge from the ashes of what has been cleared away.

In that spirit, we invite you to set an intention for this week, or for the period of Lent, that will allow new growth to emerge.

International Women’s Day: Experience God’s Incarnate Feminine Power

In an article entitled, “She Is God. She Is Love.,” Rev. Dr. Jacqui Lewis writes: “In Hebrew, the words for womb and mercy have the same root, and the word for spirit is feminine: ruach. In Greek, the word pneuma [breath or spirit or soul] has a feminine article, the word Sophia stands for wisdom, and the word agape — God’s love for us — is also a feminine word.

Therefore, my God is an incarnate feminine power, who smells like vanilla and is full of sass and truth, delivered with kindness. She’ll do anything for her creation; her love is fierce. She weeps when we do and insists on justice. She is God. She is Love.”

Purim: Embody A Generous Spirit

The story of Purim recalls the heroic intervention of Queen Esther and her cousin Mordechai, who helped save the Jewish people.

Giving is a big theme on this holiday, with a special emphasis on giving donations to those in need. What action could you take today to embody the generous spirit of Purim and give to those who may benefit from your charitable contribution?

In your community, how can you more fully embody generosity? Read the comments and share your experience on Facebook or Instagram.
