CAC NEWS

Honoring Dr. Barbara Holmes: A Life of Contemplation and Justice

CAC Dean of Faculty Brian McLaren reflects on how many of us came to know and love Dr. Barbara Holmes through her impactful contributions to CAC’s Daily Meditations, her groundbreaking books like Joy Unspeakable and Race and the Cosmos, or her teachings in the Living School and her podcast, The Cosmic We. Whether as students, readers, or listeners, we were all touched by the depth of her wisdom and compassion. It is with great sorrow that we share the news of her passing.

“There is a deep relationship between the inner revolution of prayer and the transformation of social structures and social consciousness. Our hope lies in the fact that meditation is going to change the society that we live in, just as it has changed us.”

—RICHARD ROHR, CAC FOUNDER
